Factory unlock is a service that is also known as sim unlock where a certain service provider, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/\">UnlockBase<\/a>, removes the lock your carrier put on your phone so you can use another carrier&#8217;s sim card.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><b>Types Of <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Reset<\/span><\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aside from a factory reset, there are other types of resets that are available in many Android phones. In some Android phones you will have 3 different options for \u2018reset\u2019 and none of them directly uses the term \u2018factory reset,\u2019 and they are:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Reset Network Settings<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Resetting network settings means\u00a0<\/span><b>deleting all the saved WiFi, Bluetooth, and Mobile Data information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in your phone and restoring the default manufacturer network settings. If you are trying to resolve connectivity or internet issues on your phone, this is the option for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Reset All Settings<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This type of reset\u00a0<\/span><b>restores system default settings without erasing any data.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Its purpose is to help you go back to your phone\u2019s default theme, keyboard, language, etc. This doesn\u2019t erase your downloaded apps, pictures, contacts, messages, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Erase All Data<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is the <\/span><b>new term for Factory Reset, and as the term itself defines, going in this direction erases all the data in your phone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This includes your Google Account, downloaded apps, saved passwords, albums, downloaded files, etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will completely wipe out everything that\u2019s on your phone and restores your phone back to its default system state. If you are selling your phone, there\u2019s no need to log back in again to your Google Account, because unless your account\u2019s deleted, the new user won\u2019t be able to use it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><b>Ways To Back Up Your Phone&#8217;s Data<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If there\u2019s anything more important than your phone itself, it\u2019s the data it contains. There are three ways to back up your data: (<\/span><b>1) Google Account, (2) Using external memory or another computer device (3) phone manufacturer\u2019s Cloud account.<\/b><\/p>\n<h3><b>(1) Google Account Back up<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>What type of information does your Google (Gmail) Account save\/back up for you?\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will save your calendar, contacts, and other similar Google developed Android apps. It will automatically sync and back up every data from all the synced apps on your phone. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, you have to make sure your Google Account is synced with your phone. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To know your Google account:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to\u00a0<\/span><b>Settings\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6032\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/1-min-3-516x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"556\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to <strong>Accounts\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Open <b>Account username (email)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6072\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/InkedAccount-and-security_LI-e1560868923271.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"313\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tap on the<strong> &#8220;&gt;&#8221;<\/strong> icon next to your email address and you will see all the synced apps under that account.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>(2) MicroSD, External Memory Card Backup<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>What type of information can you save via an external memory card or computer?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can save<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">several phone-based apps such as Gallery\/Albums, Notes, Contacts, Music, Recorded audio, and other downloaded files. If your phone has a memory card with an ample amount of space, you can move your albums and other downloaded files in this location. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>To move files from your internal storage to your SD card:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>From your Home screen, open &#8220;<strong>File Manager<\/strong>&#8221; or go to &#8220;<strong>Local Storage&#8221;.\u00a0<\/strong>Tap on the &#8220;<strong>Internal Storage<\/strong>&#8221; to open files saved in your phone&#8217;s own storage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6074\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/new-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/new-1.jpg 461w, https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/new-1-220x300.jpg 220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select all the items you want to &#8220;move&#8221; or save on your SD card or memory card.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6036\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/5-min-1-472x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"607\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>After selecting all items, scroll down and tap the &#8220;<strong>Move<\/strong>&#8221; option at the bottom of the screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6037\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/6-min-1-472x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"607\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>And then from the Local Storage section, go to &#8220;<strong>Memory Card<\/strong>&#8221; and tap the &#8220;<strong>Move Here<\/strong>&#8221; option.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-6038\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/7-min-472x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"607\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to save them to your computer, you can hook it to the computer via USB cable. \u00a0Allow USB debugging (option will pop up) and then just copy and paste all the file on your selected folder from your phone to your computer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Internet-based apps like Netflix and Spotify most often save your data using their own secure server.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Samsung Smart Switch<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Samsung users, it\u2019s more convenient to use <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.samsung.com\/ph\/support\/mobile-devices\/smart-switch-galaxy-to-galaxy-using-usb-connector\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smart Switch<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Samsung Galaxy S7 and later has this pre-installed, but if you don\u2019t have it, you can download it on the Google App Store and the Galaxy Store. It allows you to transfer files Galaxy to Galaxy using a USB connector. According to their website, these are the ways on how to use the Smart Switch: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Galaxy to Galaxy via a USB cable and connector.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Android to Galaxy via WiFi Direct. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">iOS to Galaxy using a USB connector.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">iOS to Galaxy through iCloud.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_6039\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.samsung.com\/ph\/support\/mobile-devices\/smart-switch-galaxy-to-galaxy-using-usb-connector\/\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6039\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6039 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/8-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/8-min.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/8-min-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6039\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Samsung Smart Switch offers a hassle-free file transfer between Galaxy phones, Android, and iOS.<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><b>(3) Cloud Account Backup. <\/b><\/h3>\n<p>What kind of data can you save on your phone manufacturer\u2019s cloud account?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will save many phone-based apps such as mentioned earlier. Most Android phone manufacturers have their own complimentary secure cloud-based storage service for free. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you had signed up for it, you will be able to save your phone\u2019s information through it but you will need a stable internet connection to do this successfully. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are of course storage limitations, for example,<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.samsung.com\/us\/support\/answer\/ANS00060517\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Samsung Cloud<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> only a<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">llows up to 1GB of data to be saved and specific file types. It is accessible through the Settings app on your phone and can save contacts, calendars, documents, Home Screen, Apps, Settings, Messages, Music, etc. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are selling your phone, log out of your phone\u2019s cloud account and remove that phone from your account&#8217;s device list to prevent the new owner from accessing it without your knowledge.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><b>Are you ready to reset your Android phone?<\/b><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you have already backed up your data, you are now ready to reset your phone. If you have plans on restoring the data back on the same phone, there are two things you need to remember: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Your Google Account\u2019s login information. <\/b><\/li>\n<li>Your phone\u2019s unlock pin\/password\/pattern.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure you have both information correctly. To confirm your Google account\u2019s password, try logging in with your email and password on another device. If you can\u2019t log in, you might need to request changing your password. Simply click on \u2018Forgot Password?\u2019 option and just follow the instructions after. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">NOTE: If you just changed your password, you have to wait 24 hours before doing a factory reset.<\/span> <\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, are you ready to reset? Here\u2019s how to do it: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to Settings<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click \u2018Advanced\u2019, in other phones \u2018More Settings\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Backup and Reset<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Erase All Data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap on &#8220;Clear now&#8221; and wait for it to process the reset. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6040\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/9-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"513\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/9-min.jpg 520w, https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/9-min-300x296.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/9-min-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-6041\" src=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/10-min.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"527\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/10-min.jpg 520w, https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/10-min-296x300.jpg 296w, https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/blog\/wp-content\/10-min-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the reset, you may restart your phone and restore your backed up files or just let it be if you have plans on selling it. You may still use it, but without logging in to your Google account you may not be able to fully utilize all Android apps and features.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><b>Hard Reset: What Is It And How To Do It<\/b><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s soft reset and then there\u2019s hard reset. Soft reset means a factory reset via the Settings app. If you can\u2019t do that because your phone\u2019s software is malfunctioning, your screen is unresponsive, or for any other reasons, you can still do a factory reset using its power and volume buttons. This type of reset is called the \u201chard reset.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The process may be different for each type of Android make and model, but with most here\u2019s how to do it: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure you have enough battery power.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Turn off your phone. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simultaneously press <\/span><b>Power <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Volume Up<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> button. If the Android System Recovery screen is not up, you have to simultaneously press <\/span><b>Power <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">+ <\/span><b>Volume Up<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> + <\/span><b>Home Key<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> button until the screen appears. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the options, tap on wipe data\/factory reset. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap on Yes (delete user data)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tap Reboot System Now. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your phone will boot up on its own and you can proceed from there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Summary<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re selling your phone, it is imperative to perform a factory reset to erase all your data because you run the risk of being hacked.
