The versatile cell phones from BlackBerry boasts a wide-range of features, including Internet access, appointment scheduling, and\u00a0still for most of their phones the physical keyboard&#8230; \u00a0But as with any type of phone, it&#8217;s only good if it can work on your local carriers. If your BlackBerry is locked, then you&#8217;ll want to take the time to have it unlocked. Fortunately, there&#8217;s a six-step process you can follow to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/unlock-phone\/blackberry\/\">unlock your BlackBerry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1: Identify your\u00a0Unlock Code<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">First, you&#8217;ll need to identify your unlock code, and to do this you&#8217;ll need your phone&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/phone-unlocking-faq\/\">IMEI number<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On a BlackBerry 10, click the Advanced tab under the phone&#8217;s Settings.<br \/>\nA dropdown menu should include a Hardware Tab. Click it and you&#8217;ll see your IMEI number.<\/li>\n<li>On a BlackBerry 6, 7, 8 or 9 you need to click Device under the Options menu.<br \/>\nNow click Device Status Information, and you can find your IMEI.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a BlackBerry 5 or earlier version, simply click Status under the Options menu, and you&#8217;ll see your IMEI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Or simply phone this number *#06# with your keypad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2: Call, chat online or visit your carrier in person\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Now you will need to contact your carrier; most will unlock it for free if your contract is up. \u00a0Tell them you would like to unlock your phone and that you already have the phone&#8217;s IMEI number. \u00a0If your contract with the carrier is not up, then you may have to take a different route of getting your phone unlocked.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3: Taking an alternative route<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">If your carrier refuses to give you an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unlockbase.com\/unlock-phone\/\">unlock code<\/a>, you can always pay a third-party service provider for one. Before choosing a third-party service provider. \u00a0The provider will need your phone&#8217;s IMEI number, and although receiving the unlock code may take up to three days, in most cases, it only takes a few hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4: Entering you unlock code<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Once you have your unlock code, you&#8217;ll need to go to your phone&#8217;s Settings and select the Security and Privacy tab. \u00a0Then click on SIM Card and scroll down until you see Unlock Phone. \u00a0Click this tab and enter your code, followed by clicking on OK. \u00a0Do keep in mind that you have only 10 attempts to enter the number or otherwise your phone will be disabled.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5: Entering your unlock code on a BlackBerry 7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">On a BlackBerry 7, all network connections must be disabled before entering your unlock code. \u00a0To turn off these connections, go to Manage Connections and turn off WiFi and mobile networks.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Then go to your SIM Card menu and type &#8220;MEPD.&#8221; \u00a0A new menu will pop up and your Network should appear as Active. \u00a0If you have a 71xx, 81xx, 91xx model, instead of typing &#8220;MEPD,&#8221; you&#8217;ll need to type &#8220;MEPPD.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Now type &#8220;MEP[Alt]2&#8221;. \u00a0You may then have to type &#8220;MEP[Alt]4&#8221; if nothing happens. \u00a0Remember that pressing the Alt key is suggested so that you can type numbers. \u00a0For 71xx, 81xx, and 91xx models, you will instead need to type &#8220;MEPP[Alt]2&#8221; or &#8220;MEPP[Alt]4&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">At this point, you will now enter your unlock code. \u00a0Fortunately, you have 255 tries, so it&#8217;ll be hard to mess up entering your code the right way. \u00a0Once you have entered it correctly, insert your new SIM card. \u00a0You can then re-enable your network connections to.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 6: Entering your unlock code on a BlackBerry 6 or older version<\/strong><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\">Simply remove the old SIM card and replace it with the new one. \u00a0Turn the phone back on and enter your unlock code<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most popular phones brand on the market today is still BlackBerry.
